 ここね、すごい写真スポットなんだけど、車通りも多くてなかなか写真が撮れないー。ビートルズは1969年、ここでアルバム「アビー・ロード」のジャケットの写真を撮りました。
Though it's a great photo spot, it' s very difficult to take a photo because traffic is always busy. The Beatles took a cover photo of the album, "Abbey Road" here in 1969. |

 「アビーロード・スタジオ」。
1931年に英国の音楽会社EMIの前身であるグラモフォン社によって設立されました。EMIは一部がユニバーサル・ミュージックの傘下に入った2013年までここを所有していました。スタジオはビートルズ、ピンク・フロイド、ホリーズその他によって1960年代のレコーディング技術に革新を与えた場所として最も注目されています。前に来たときも同じ写真撮ってる。
"Abbey Road Studios"
It was established in November 1931 by the Gramophone Company, a predecessor of British music company EMI, which owned it until Universal Music took control of part of EMI in 2013. Abbey Road Studios is most notable as being the 1960s' venue for innovative recording techniques adopted by The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Hollies, as well as others. I took a same photo when I came here before.

 ここね。「シャーロック・ホームズ」の住まいです。「シャローック・ホームズ」の話が最初に出版された時、ベーカー・ストリートの番地は221までありませんでした。1930年代に番地が再割り当てされた時に215番地から229番地は1932年に建てられたアビー・ハウスとして知られるアールデコ調のビルに割り与えられました。1990年3月27日に221B番地はシャーロック・ホームズ博物館に与えられました。（元々の住所はベイカー・ストリート239番地）
It's the residence of "Sherlock Holmes". When the "Sherlock Holmes" stories were first published, street numbers in Baker Street did not go as high as 221. When street numbers were reallocated in the 1930s, the block of odd numbers from 215 to 229 was assigned to an Art Deco building known as Abbey House, constructed in 1932. The street number 221B was assigned to the Sherlock Holmes Museum on 27 March 1990 (replacing the logical address 239 Baker Street). |

 到着。「ケンジントン・ガーデン」から歩けます。
現在の建物の建築は1873年に始まり1880年に完成しました。新博物館は1881年にオープンしましたが、旧博物館からの引っ越しは1883年まで終わりませんでした。オープン後も自然史博物館は公式には大英博物館の一部であり、正式名称も大英博物館（自然史）でした。
We arrived. We can reach there from "Kensington Garden" on foot.
The constructton of the current building began in 1873 and was completed in 1880. The new museum opened in 1881, although the move from the old museum was not fully completed until 1883. Even after the opening, the Natural History Museum legally remained a department of the British Museum with the formal name British Museum (Natural History). |

 正面の入り口は40分待ち。平日だからと軽く考えていたらとんでもなかった。正面突破をあきらめ正面を通り越して東口へ。ここは流れもよくてすぐに入れた−。入るとステゴサウルスの骨格標本がお出迎えしてくれます。ステゴサウルスは草食性・装盾亜目の恐竜です。化石は後期ジュラ期、1億5000〜5500万年前の地層から見つかっています。
We had to wait for 40 minutes to enter from the main entrance. We thought lightly because it was a weekday, but we were in big trouble. We gave up the main entrance and went to the east entrance. The flow of the people was early there and we could enter there soon. When we got in the museum, a Stegosaurus skeleton welcomed us. Stegosaurus is a genus of herbivorous thyreophoran dinosaur. Fossils of this genus date to the Late Jurassic period, between 155 and 150 million years ago. |

 館内は分野ごとに色分けされています。いちばん人気は恐竜やほ乳類の展示がある「ブルーゾーン」。まずはそこに向かいます。途中にあった恐竜レストラン。子どもたちが喜びそう。
Each fields are separated by colour. "The blue zone", where dinosaurs, mammals and so on are displayed, is the most popular. We headed for there firstly. We saw a dinosaur restaurant on the way. children seems to be pleased. |

That was very intense. The whale had been in storage for 42 years since its stranding on sandbanks at the mouth of Wexford Harbour, Ireland in March 1891 after being injured by whalers.
