 「モスタル」の新市街地に到着。これは聖ペテロとパウロ・ローマカソリック教会です。15世紀にフランシスコ派がモスタルに教会と修道院を建てましたが、オスマントルコ占領軍が両者を1563年に破壊しました。現在の教会は1849年に再建されました。

この橋はボスニア紛争でクロアチア軍事評議会によって1993年11月9日に破壊されるまで427年架かっていました。その後復興計画が動き出し、再建された橋は2004年7月23日にオープンしました。2005年7月、ユネスコはスタリモスト橋と近接地域を世界遺産リストに記載しました。

Stari Most diving is a traditional annual competition in diving organized every year in mid summer (end of July). It is traditional for the young men of the town to leap from the bridge into the Neretva.  橋のたもとにはこんな石が。「モスタル」とはもともとボスニア語で「橋を守る人」と言う意味だそうです。紛争で完全に落ちてしまった橋を修復したのは「橋を守る人」の意地だったのかもしれません。

 「聖ルカ教会」。
1195年にカソリック教会として建てられました。1667年の地震で大きな損害を受けなかった街の唯一の建物です。17世紀に正教の教会に変更されましたが、1つの祭壇だけはカソリック用に残す権利を得ました。「聖ルカ広場」にたっています。小さなかわいい教会です。
"St. Luke's Church"
It was built in 1195 as a Catholic church. It is the only building in town that did not suffer significant damage during the earthquake in 1667. In the 17th century, the Catholics turned it over to the Orthodox church, but retained the right to have one altar for their own use. It stands on "St. Luke's square". It's a small and wonderful church. |

 コトルのシンボル「時計台」に戻ってきました。
時計台は1602年に造られ、今も時を刻んでいます。
時計台の正面にある長細いピラミッド型の柱は「恥の柱」と呼ばれています。かつて、この広場は公開処刑の場として使われ罪人はこの柱にいつるされてさらし者になったそうです。

It was built in 1602 and ticking away even now.
A slim pyramidal pillar in fron of the clock tower is called "The shame pillar". Back in the day, the square was used as the place of the public execution and this pillar was where local criminals were tied as punishment. |

市庁舎の隣に座っているルネッサンス時代の劇作家「マリン・ドルジッチ（1508年生-1567年没）」の像。鼻を触ると幸せになれるらしい…

 「旧総督邸」
権力の誘惑を感じさせないように1ヶ月毎に選挙で選ばれる総督の館でした。宮殿の入口には「私を忘れ、公を心配せよ」という碑文があり、その地位が当時の人々にとっていかに重要だったかの動かぬ証拠となります。1453年の火事の後、再建されました。今は歴史博物館として使われていますが、修復中のため閉館中でした。

It was the seat of the Rector, who was elected to the post every month so as not to feel the sweetness of power. At the entrance to the Rector's Palace is the inscription: Obliti privatorum publica curate (Forget the private and worry about the public), real proof of how important the state was to Dubrovnik people at that time. It was rebuilt after the fire in 1435. Today it is used as the history museum, but it was closed due to rennovation. |

「ピレ門」を通って旧市街地にはいると正面に見えます。1438年に造られました。1667年の大地震で大きな損害を受け、今日の外観は600年前に比べて極めて粗末になっています。現地の人は噴水を19世紀末に現代の水道が家に直接、水を供給するまで主な給水施設として利用していました。
今から城壁を歩いて一周します。「ピレ門」横の入り口から城壁へ。

When we get the old city through "The Pile Gates", it's seen in front. It was built in 1438. In the great earthquake of 1667 it was very badly damaged and so today's appearance is noticeably more humble than that of 600 years ago. Locals used Onofrio's fountains as a main source of water all te way up to the end of the 19th Century when a modern water supply was installed thats upplied homes directly.

お土産物屋さんで売られていたトルコ・コーヒーのセットはとても装飾性が高かったので、お土産物屋さんでは買わず、ショッピングセンターで買いました。これなら普通に使えそう。

I bought them at a shopping mall and didn't do them at a souvenir shop because sets of Turkish coffee cups and saucers which were sold there has a high decorativeness. I think I can use it normally. |
