 仕入先のお誘いで「オメガング」を見に行きました。オメガングとは、毎年7月の第1火曜日から木曜日までにグランプラスで開催されるお祭りです。これは会場外でのパレード。
I went to see "Ommegang" by the supplier's invitation. Ommegang is the festival which is held at Grand Place between the first Tuesday and Thursday of July. It's the parade ouy of Grand Place. |

 「オメガング」とは、古いフラマン語で「輪になって歩く」という意味です。14世紀にサブロン教会に祀られたマリア像を囲んで行進したことが起源とされています。「omme」 (around)+「gang」 (walk)。今年はベルギーと日本の国交樹立150週年で16世紀の日本人もパレードします。もう少しまともなカツラなかったのかね。 忍者が一番人気でした。
"Ommegang" means "walking in a ring" in old Flemish. It is said that the march with the statue of Virgin Mary, which was worshipped at Church of Our Blessed Lady of the Sablon in the 14th century, was origin. "omme" (around)+"gang" (walk). Japanese of the 16th century hold the parade because this year maeks the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Belgium. I think they should find a more proper wig. Ninja was the most popular. |

 オープニングの歌と旗の踊り。まだUKの旗はあります。日本の旗もあります。オメガングが現在の形になったのは1549年、神聖ローマ帝国のカール大帝とその息子フェリペがブリュッセルを訪問した際に、歓迎の意を込めて行われたセレモニーからで、現在もなおその様子を再現しています。

The current form of Ommegang was made from the ceremony that was held with the will of the welcome when Holy Roman Emperor Charles V and his son, Philip II, visited Brussels in 1549. It recreates the conditions of that time even now. |
