 週末フランスのナンシーとメッスに行ってきました。まずはアールヌーボーが生まれた街「ナンシー」へ。
「大聖堂」
現在の大聖堂の建築は1703年に始まり、最初のミサは1742年11月1日に行われました。
We visited Nancy and Metz in France. Firstly we visited "Nancy" where art nouveau was born in.

 1983年から「スタニラス広場」とそこを中心とした外周であるカリエール広場、アリアンス広場と共に建築上の複合体としてユネスコ世界遺産に登録されています。ナンシー最大の見所です。ガーデニングのイベントが開かれていました。

街を東に広げるために中世の街壁を後退させた16世紀半ばにできました。名前は馬上槍試合や他の馬術試合に使われた使用歴から来ています。

 世界遺産「アリアンス広場」。なんで世界遺産なのかなぁ？バロック様式の噴水は当初、カリエール広場の半円形部分の中心に置かれる予定でしたが、最終的にここに設置されました。1756年のオーストリア＝ハンガリー帝国とフランスの同盟のシンボルであり、広場の名前もそこから来ました。
The world heritage site "Place Alliance". I want to know why it is the world heritage site. A baroque fountain, which to begin with, was meant to stand in the centre of the semicircle on Carriere Square was finally installed here. It is a symbol of the alliance in 1756 between the Austro-Hungarian Empire and France and is the origin of the name of the square

ここの駐車場に車を停めて街歩きに出発。ゴシック式大聖堂の建築は1220年に始まりました。作業は1520年頃完成し、1552年4月11日に聖別されました。

 「サンテティエンヌ大聖堂」に戻ってきました。1877年、大聖堂は花火による大火で大きな損害を受けました。事故の後、大聖堂と新ゴシック様式までの装飾の修復が決定されました。西側のファサードは1898年から1903年にかけて完全に修復されました。
We came back to "Cathedral of Saint Stephen". In 1877, it was heavily damaged after a conflagration due to fireworks. After this incident, it was decided the refurbishment of the cathedral and its adornments within a Neogothic style. The western facade was completely rebuilt between 1898 and 1903. |

 帰りにトラピストビールを作る「サン・レミ修道院」へ立ち寄りました。修道院はその宗教的生活と世界で数少ないトラピストビール醸造所の一つとして有名です。その生活はトラピスト修道会の3つの基本的要素である祈り、読書そして日々の労働が特徴です。
We stopped at Abbey of "Notre-Dame de Saint-Remy" where trappist beer is made. The abbey is famous for its spiritual life and its brewery, which is one of few Trappist beer breweries in the world.  「サン・レミ修道院」
中にも入れずビールも売られていませんでした。修道院は1230年頃設立されました。1789年にフランス革命軍がオーストリア領ネーデルランドに侵攻し、1797年に修道院は閉鎖された上、1805年頃取り壊され農場に変えられました。修道院は19世紀後半に修復され、新しい建物が建ちました。シトー会の厳しい戒律で世間から隔離されており、醸造所も一般公開されていません。

We couldn't get in and beer wasn't sold here. The abbey was established in around 1230. In 1789 the French revolutionary army invaded the Austrian Netherlands, and in 1797 the abbey was closed and was demolished around 1805 and converted it to a farm. The abbey was restored and new buildings were raised in the late 19th century. The Cistercian Order of the Strict Observance is known for their seclusion and the brewery is not accessible to the public. |
