 花の季節にアルザスの村をめぐります。途中、高速のサービスエリアのピクニックエリアでランチ。アルザスはフランスの中でこうのとりが最も営巣しているエリア。高速のサービスエリアにもいましたー。
We visit villages of Alsace in the flower season. We had a lunch at the picnic area of the rest spot in the highway on the way. Alsace is the area where a stork builds a nest most in France. They are in the rest spot as well.

 サービスエリアからはHaut-Koeigsbourg城も見えました。最初にいつ建てられたかは定かではありませんが、城は1147年には文書化されています。城は中世からそれが放棄された30年戦争の時代まで継続的な砦として利用されていました。1900年から1908年にドイツ皇帝ウイルヘルム2世の命令で再建されました。現在は有名な観光名所です。
We could see Chateau du Haut-Koeigsbourg. It is not known when a first castle was built. However the castle was documented in 1147. It was used by successive powers from the Middle Ages until the Thirty Years' War when it was abandoned. From 1900 to 1908 it was rebuilt at the behest of the German emperor Wilhelm II. Today it is a major tourist site |

 「ドルデーの塔」が見えてきました。塔は市壁と同時にリクヴィルへの入口として1291年に建設されました。鐘楼に設置された見張塔を利用して外敵の進入に対する村の防御のために使われました。ドルデーはアルザス語で「最も高い所」を意味します。鐘楼の高さは25メートルです。
"The Dolder" came into our sight. The tower was the gateway to Riquewihr built at the same time as the wall in 1291. It was used to defend the village against foreign intrusion using its watchtower installed on the belfry. Dolder means "the highest point" in Alsace. The belfry has a height of 25 meters. |

コルマールを出てドイツのヴュルツブルグへ向かいます。
"Statue of liberty" stands at the roundabout in Colmar. This statue made of resin is a 12-meter high replica of the Statue of Liberty. The sculptor Auguste Batholdi, who created the "Liberty lightening the world", was born in Colmar in 1934. It was sculpted to commemorate the 100th death anniversary of him.

 とりあえず中に入って見学です。第2次大戦で大きな被害を受け、1945年から修復作業が進められてきました。1981年にユネスコの世界遺産となりました。広場には1894年に製作されたフランコニア噴水があります。噴水には中央台に載った水盤とフランケン地方の寓話にあるフランコニアを現した銅像があります。
We entered inside in the meantime. It was heavily damaged during World War II, and restoration has been in progress since 1945. Since 1981, the Residence has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is The Frankoni Fountain, erected in 1894, in the square. The fountain has a fountain bowl with a central pedestal and a bronze statue depicting Frankonia, the allegory of Frankens. |

 中は写真撮影ができませんでした。自分たちで見学しようと思っていたら、「ガイドツアーが始まるまで待ったら？」と係員の方に言われたので待つことに。個人でまわるエリアも大変豪華でしたが、ガイドツアーでしか入れないエリアが本当に素晴らしく、参加してよかったです。ツアーが終わって庭へ出てきました。
Photography was prohibited inside the residence. Though we were going to go sightseeing by ourselves initially, a clerk invited us a guided tour and we decided to join it. The area we could visit praivately was gorgeous, but the area we could do only by a guided tour was truely wonderful and we were very glad that we participated it. We went out into the garden after a tour. |

Initially Market place, the center of the town, was a goal for us, but we changed the plan and decided to walk to "Alte Mainbrucke" over the Main. It's the Vierrohren fountain erected in 1766. The figures have now been replaced several times due to severe weathering damage (for the first time in 1927 and most recently in 1964). |

We arrived. It was served as a home of the local prince-bishops for nearly five centuries. It has been a fort since ancient times. Most of the current structures originally were built in Renaissance and Baroque styles between the 16th and 18th centuries. After Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden conquered the area in 1631 during the Thirty Years' War, the castle was reconstructed as a Baroque residence. After it ceased to serve as residence of the Bishops of Wurzburg, the fortress saw repeated action in the wars of the late 18th and 19th centuries. |
