 天気のいい週末、ブリュッセルから１２キロ離れた小さなお城に行ってきました。エグモン伯が死刑になる直前まで３年間ほど暮らしていたお城だそうです。
We went to the small castle 12km away from Brussels in the nice weekend weather. I heard it's the Castle which Egmont Earl had lived about three years until immediately before the death penalty. |

 お城へ続く道。新緑が美しいです。
この要塞城は1240年頃、ブラバント公国をフランダース州から守るため建てられました。しかし城はガースビーク公に指揮で行われたEverard t'Serclaesの暗殺の報復としてブリュッセル市民軍によって破壊されました。

The fortified castle was erected around 1240 to defend the Duchy of Brabant against the County of Flanders. The castle was destroyed however by Brussels city troops in revenge for the assassination of Everard t'Serclaes, which was commanded by the Lord of Gaasbeek. |

 マフィーとモーリー。
16世紀の初め、中世の砦の後に神聖ローマ帝国の小領主家族がレンガ製の城を建てました。その後、城にはいくつかの貴族が住み、1887年から88年にかけての修復の結果、疑似中世の外観が出来上がりました。

At the beginning of the 16th century the Horne family constructed a brick castle on the ruins of the medieval fortress. In the following centuries the castle was inhabited by several noble families. It obtained its pseudo-medieval appearance as the result of a renovation during the years 1887-1898. |

 お城の中庭。
当時の所有者の未亡人Marie Peyrat（1922年没）は城をベルギー国家に土地や美術コレクションと共に寄付しました。1980年以降この城はthe Flemish Communityが所有しています。

 お城の庭。公園になっていてここは無料で開放されています。たくさんの人が散策やピクニックにきていました。
The garden of the castle. It's a park and opened for free. A lot of people came for taking a walk or picnic. |
