 アムステルダムから車で20分ぐらいのところにある「ザーンセ・スカンス」。オランダらしい風車の風景が残るエリアです。よく保存された歴史的風車と家が集められています。1961年から1974年にかけてZaanstreek中の古い建物が低床式トレーラーを使ってこの地域に移築されました。
"Zaanse Schans" is in a place that is about 20 minutes away by car from Amsterdam. It is the area where typical Dutch scenery of the windmill is left. It has a collection of well-preserved historic windmills and houses. From 1961 to 1974 old buildings from all over the Zaanstreek were relocated using lowboy trailers to the area. |

 入場無料のテーマパークのような感じ。中にはチーズや木靴の工房や博物館、お土産物屋さんなどがあります。
It's like a theme park of admission free. There are workshop of cheese and wooden shoes, museums and souvenir shops. |

 かつては600基の風車があったそうですが、今は12基がのこされ、歴史的保存地区に指定されています。
Though I hear there were 600 windmills formerly, only 12 are left now and it is registered as a historical preservation district.

 帰り、パーキングの売店にあったバルギー王室御用達のお菓子メーカー「ジュールス・デストルーパー」のワッフル型クッキーを使った「クッキーサンド アイスクリーム」。2.5ユーロもしたー！
When we return to Belgium, I found "Cookie sand ice cream" using the waffle type cookie of "Jules Destrooper" which is the Purveyor to the Belgian Royal Household at the parking area of the highway. 2.5 euros. What a price !

 オランダのワッフルはベルギーのものとは違って薄く、間にキャラメルや蜂蜜がはさんであります。冷めたものはコーヒーや紅茶の入ったカップの上にふたのように置いて、湯気で温めて食べます。これは焼きたて。パリパリの「ストロープ・ワッフル」は初めて食べました。
Dutch waffle, different from Belgian one, is made from two thin layers of baked dough with a caramel-like syrup or honey filling in the middle. When we eat it that has become cold, we put it on the cup of coffee or tea like a cover and eat after warming it by the steam. The one I bought was fresh. I have eaten crispy "Stroopwafel" for the first time. |
