 メトロで20分で市内に到着。メトロ駅から地上に上がったところにあるアズレージョの美しい教会。「アルマス教会」18世紀に建てられた教会でアズレージョは20世紀初期のものです。すごいなぁ。小さな教会もこんなに綺麗です。
We arrived the city in 20 minutes. It is the church which is covered with beautiful azulejo near the metro station. "Capela Das Alams". It was built in the 18th century and azulejo was made in the early 20th century. It's amazing. Though it's a small church, it's very beautiful. |

左の建物は証券取引所、「ボルサ宮」。建設は1842年に始まり、ほとんどは1850年に終わりましたが、内装飾りは1910年までかかりました。現在はポルト商工会議所のオフィスとして使われています。

 エルサレム・ローマに次ぐキリスト教三大聖地の一つ「サンティアゴ・デ・コンポステーラ」に行ってきました。これでキリスト教三大聖地をコンプリート！！この建物は聖フランシスコ教会と修道院です。1214年にアシシの聖フランシスがこの地を訪れた際に設立されました。現在のバロック式教会は1742年から49年にかけて建てられました。玄関には大きな石の十字架として表される聖フランシスの記念碑があります。
We visited "Santiago de Compostela", one of three holy places of Catholic, following Rome and Jerusalem. Herewith we have visited all of them. This building is Convent and Church of San Francisco. It was founded by St. Francis of Assisi during his visit to Santiago de Compostela in 1214. The present-day baroque church was built between 1742 and 1749. In the porch we can see the Monument to St. Francis, conceived as a giant stone cross. |

We went round the building and got in it. There were a lot of pilgrims. According to legend, the apostle Saint James the Great brought Christianity to the Iberian Peninsula. In 44 CE he was beheaded in Jerusalem. His remains were later brought back to Galicia, Spain. Following Roman persecutions of Spanish Christians, his tomb was abandoned in the 3rd century. According to legend, this tomb was rediscovered in 814 AD by the hermit Pelagius, after he witnessed strange lights in the night sky. Bishop Theodomirus of Iria recognized this as a miracle and informed king Alfonso II of Asturias and Galicia (791-842). The king ordered the construction of a chapel on the site. Legend has it that the king was the first pilgrim to this shrine. This was followed by the first church in 829 AD and then in 899 AD by a pre-Romanesque church, ordered by king Alfonso III of Leon, which caused the gradual development of the major place of pilgrimage. |

His coffin is under this decoration. Construction of the present cathedral began in 1075 under the reign of Alfonso VI of Castile (1040-1109). It was built mostly in granite. Construction was halted several times and the last stone was laid in 1122. But by then, the construction of the cathedral was certainly not finished. The cathedral was consecrated in 1211.

 「オブラロイド広場」まで戻ってきました。右の建物は5つ星ホテル「オステル・レイエス・カトリコス」で、レイエス・カトリオス病院とも呼ばれています。病院は1486年にカトリック両王であるアラゴン王フェルナンド2世とカスティーリャ女王イサベル1世の宗教的事業として建てられました。1954年、スペイン高級ホテルシステムを作るため、フランコ総督の命令で病院は世界レベルの現代的ホテルに改造されました。
We came back to "the Obradoiro Square". The right building is "Hostal dos Reis Catolicos" which is a 5-star Parador hotel, also called the Hospital dos Reis Catolicos. The hostal was constructed as a religious work in 1486, by Ferdinand and Isabel, the Catholic Monarch. It was Franco's decision, in 1954, to create the Spanish Parador hotel system, and to renovate the Hostal into a world class modern hotel. |

サンタ・ルジアの丘の上にある教会の建設は1904年に始まり、1959年に終わりました。この教会に先立ち、ここには眼の聖人サンタ・ルジアに捧げられた小さな教会が建っていました。

In the late nineteenth century, the Cavalry Captain Luis de Andrade e Sousa suffered from an eye problem, began to attend small chapel, prayed and asked for solution his issue. When it restored the vision in 1884, he established the Brotherhood of Santa Luzia, took over the isolated and abandoned chapel and built a new church and a road linking the city to the mountain. |

 クリームドーナツですね。甘さ控えめで美味しい。これとコーヒーとビールで３ユーロちょっと。安すぎ。
It's a doughnut with custard. It's not so sweet and nice. It was about 3 Euros with it, coffee and beer. Reasonable. |

 ポルトへ戻ってきました。お夕飯を食べに行きます。今日の予約は9時。まだまだ明るい！1739年に完成した美麗アズレージョ、ベスト３の「サント・インデフオンソ聖堂」。１万枚のアズレージョで飾られています。
We came back to Oporto. We were going to eat a dinner. The booking of this day was 9 o'clock. It was still light. "Church of Saint Ildefonso" completed in 1739 is one of the most beautiful church with azulejos in Oporto. This church is covered with 10,000 azulejos. |

 「ドン・ルイス一世橋」から夕焼けを見たくてきたのですが、日の入りは９時過ぎ。レストランの予約に間に合わないのでこれでいいということにして、レストランに向かいます。
We came to "Dom Luis I Bridge" to see a sunset, however the sunset is past 9:00. We satisfied ourselves of the scenary because we were not in time for the reservation of the restaurant. We were going to start toward the restaurant. |

現在の大聖堂の建設は1110年頃始まり、13世紀に完成しました。しかし5から6世紀のスエビ族支配下には司教席が既にあったという痕跡があります。聖堂の外観はバロック時代に大きく変更されました。例えば1772年には新しい入口が古いオリジナルのロマネスク式にとって代わり、塔の小丸屋根も変更されました。

The current Cathedral of Porto underwent construction around 1,110 and was completed in the 13th century, but there is evidence that the city has been a bishopric seat since the Suevi domination in the 5th-6th centuries. The external appearance of the Cathedral was greatly altered during Baroque times. For example, in 1772 a new main portal substituted the old Romanesque original and the tower cupolas were altered. |
