 「パンテオン」
出張でローマに行った時にパンテオンを見ました。アウグストゥス統治時代（紀元前27年-紀元14年）にマルクス・アグリッパの命令による建物の上に建っています。現在の建物は126年頃にハドリアヌス帝によって完成されています。彼はアグリッパのオリジナルの碑を残したため、建設年代に混乱が生じています。ペディメントの下に大きな御影石のコリント式円柱（8本が前面に、4本のグループが後ろに2式）を持った円形の建物です。長方形の玄関が空に続く穴のあいた格間のコンクリート製ドームの下にあるロタンダにつながっています。建設後約2000年を経ていますが、パンテオンは依然世界で最も大きな補強されていないコンクリート製ドームです。
"Pantheon"
I visited Pantheon in Rome during my business trip. It's on the site of an earlier building commissioned by Marcus Agrippa during the reign of Augustus (27 BC-14 AD). The present building was completed by the emperor Hadrian and probably dedicated about 126 AD. He retained Agrippa's original inscription, which has confused its date of construction. The building is circular with a portico of large granite Corinthian columns (eight in the first rank and two groups of four behind) under a pediment. A rectangular vestibule links the porch to the rotunda, which is under a coffered concrete dome, with a central opening to the sky. Almost two thousand years after it was built, the Pantheon's dome is still the world's largest unreinforced concrete dome. |
