"Le Capitole"
The historical building faced on "Capitole Square". Today the Capitole houses the city hall, as well as the Theatre du Capitole de Toulouse opera company and a symphony orchestra. In the 17th century, the capitouls (governing magistrates) wanted to build a unique municipal palace in France. Its construction will last nearly two hundred years. The facade of the Capitolium was built in 1750 for ten years. The facade was originally covered with whitewash. It was removed in 1883 by scratching. In 1974, then in 1987 and 1994, the facades were renovated by sandblasting and the coats of arms.
