 トリーアを取り囲む市壁の北口にあたります。186年から200年にかけて灰色の砂岩で建設されました。

 1028年頃、ギリシャの隠遁者シメオンがポルタ・ニグラの廃墟に住み着きました。彼が死に（1035年）聖人化された後、シメオン会修道院が彼を偲んでポルタ・ニグラの隣に建てられました。これ以上の破壊から守るためにポルタ・ニグラは教会に改造されました。
After 1028, the Greek monk Simeon lived as a hermit in the ruins of the Porta Nigra. After his death (1035) and sanctification, the Simeonstift monastery was built next to the Porta Nigra to honor him. To save it from further destruction, the Porta Nigra was transformed into a church. |

 塔の上からトリーアの町並み。1802年ナポレオン・ボナパルトがトリーアの大多数の巨大な教会や修道院と共にポルタ・ニグラの教会と隣の修道院を解散させました。1804年にトリーアを訪問した際、ナポレオンはポルタ・ニグラを元のローマ遺跡に戻すよう命令しました。後陣のみは残されましたが東側の塔はオリジナルの高さまで再建されませんでした。
A view of the town of Torier from the top of the tower. In 1802 Napoleon Bonaparte dissolved the church in the Porta Nigra and the monastery beside it, along with the vast majority of Trier's numerous churches and monasteries. On his visit to Trier in 1804, Napoleon ordered that the Porta Nigra be converted back to its Roman form. Only the apse was kept; but the eastern tower was not rebuilt to its original height. |

 町を歩いて次のローマ遺跡へ。観光案内所でセットになったチケットを購入した。おすすめコースで町をまわります。
We went to other Roman remains on foot through the town. We bought a ticket including some attractions' admission fee at the tourist information. We walked around by the recommended route in it. |

 とても近代的な建物で遺跡がおおわれています。第2次大戦時の防空壕の下にあった浴場の遺跡で1987年に発見されました。
The remains are covered by the very modern building. It's the remains of a bath from around A.D. 100 underneath air-raid shelters from the Second World War and was found in 1987. |

 皇帝浴場の地下は迷路のようになっていて熱を保つ構造になっているそうです。人々は裸で入浴し（必ずしも別々ではなかったですが）スポーツに興じ、温冷浴をし、泳ぎ、マッサージを受け、ピンセットやワックスでムダ毛処理をし、こて、軽石、発酵した尿によって体をきれいにしました。
The underground of the baths is like a maze and it becomes the structure to keep heat. People bathed naked (not always separately), could engage in sports, sit in cold and hot baths, swim, get a massage, have the body hair removed by tweezers or wax, and be cleaned with the help of scrapers, pumice stone, or fermented urine. |

 トリーア選帝侯兼大司教の城のすぐ横にあります。310年頃に宮殿群の一部として建てられました。元々単独で建っていたものではなく小さな建物が付属していました。中世の時代にトリーアの司教の宮殿として使われました。
It located at just the side of Electoral Palace. It was built around AD 310 as a part of the palace complex. Originally it was not a free standing building, but had other smaller buildings attached to it. During the Middle Ages, it was used as the residence for the bishop of Trier. |

 中はとてもシンプル。19世紀後半、プロシアのフレデリック・ウィリアム4世は建物をオリジナルのローマ時代の状態に修復するよう命じました。1856年にプロテスタントの教会となりました。1944年には第2次大戦の連合軍による空襲により焼け落ちました。戦後、修復された時19世紀の歴史的装飾は再建されなかったために煉瓦の壁が内部からも見られます。
The interior is very simple. Later in the 19th century, Frederick William IV of Prussia ordered the building to be restored to its original Roman state. In 1856, it became a Protestant church. In 1944, the building burned due to an air raid of the allied forces during World War II. When it was repaired after the war, the historical inner decorations from the 19th century were not reconstructed, so that the brick walls are visible from the inside as well. |

The cathedral and the church are connected with the corridor. The left side of the picture is the part of the cathedral. It is the oldest cathedral in the country and the current building was completed in 1270.

 フレンチ・ゴシック様式の教会です。建設開始の正確な日付はもはや決定できませんが、教会の円柱内には以下の碑文があります。「教会の建設は1227年に始まり1243年に終わった」。しかし現在は教会建設は1230年に始まったと考えられています。1260年頃に建物は多分完成したと思われます。
It's a French Gothic church. The exact date of the start of construction can no longer be determined, however a painted inscription inside on a column in the church reads: "The construction of this church was started in 1227 and ended in 1243", however, it is currently thought construction began in 1230. Around 1260, the building was probably finished. |

 創建は4世紀でドイツ最古級のものです。ドイツ三大聖堂（トリーア大聖堂・ケルン大聖堂・マインツ大聖堂）の一つにもなっています。4世紀の建物はフランク人によって廃墟になり再建されましたが、882年にノルマン人によって破壊されました。司教エグベルト（993年没）のもとで大聖堂は再び建てなおされた。
Founded in the 4th century and it's one of the oldest church in Germany. It's also one of three the bigeest cathedral (Trier, Cologne, Mainz). The fourth-century structure was left in ruins by the Franks and rebuilt. Normans destroyed the structure again in 882. Under Archbishop Egbert (d. 993) it was restored once more. |

 クリスマス・マーケットといえば「グリューワイン(ホットワイン）」。お酒は飲めないのでお子様用の「キッズ・パンチ」を飲んでいます。
We must drink a mulled wine when we go to a Christmas market. However I drink a "Kids' pounch" for children because I don't drink an alcohol drink.

 そろそろ帰ろうかなと思ったら広場のすぐ横にこんな教会を見つけました。教会は15世紀の初頭に始まりました。4階建ての塔はその1世紀前に建設されています。
When we were just now thinking about going to the hotel, we found the chuch next to the square. The church as it stands today was begun at the outset of the 15th century. A four-storey tower had already been constructed a century earlier. |
