 パリで過ごした週末の一日、世界遺産の「フォンテーヌブロー城」を見に行こうと思い立ち、電車に乗って出かけました。パリからは約45分。「フォンテーヌ・アヴォン」という駅で降り、そこからバスに乗って行きます。フォンテーヌ城には25000ヘクタールの広大な森があり、多くの人が自転車やハイキングを楽しみにやってきます。電車はその人たちのために森のど真ん中、駅でもないところに電車を停め客をおろします。駅の数を数え、「次の停車が降りる駅だ！」と思っていた私たちは間違ってそこで降りてしまいました。当然バス乗り場もなく、25000ヘクタールの森の真ん中で途方にくれていました・・・
On one day in weekend when we spent the time in Paris, we conceived of an idea we would go to see the castle of Fantainebleau and went there by train. It takes about 45 minutes. People usually gets off the train at Fantainebleau Avon station and uses the bus from there.
Fontainebleau castle has the huge forest of 25000ha and a lot of people come here to enjoy cycling or hiking. The train stops and takes down the visitors at the center of the forest for them though it isn't a station. We got off the train there by mistake, because we counted the number of stations and thought the next station was our destination. Of course there was no bus station there, we were at our wit's end in the 25000ha forest. |

 普通なら森を歩くとき、地図とコンパスは必携。それぐらい広い森です。ハイキングに来ていた人に城のある方向だけ聞き、歩き始めました。1時間ほど歩いたとき、森が切れ、小さな町にたどりつきました。方向があっているのかもわからずにいると、散歩をしている家族連れに出会いました。まずは英語が話せるか聞くと若い女性が話せるというので「フォンテーヌ城へ行きたい」と伝えました。家族連れは大変びっくりした様子で、「歩いていくのか？」と聞いてきました。地図も持っていないことにも驚いていて、「10キロほどあるかもしれない」と地図もなく歩いて行くのは無理だという様子でした・・・
When people walk in this forest, they must have a map and a compass, because this forest is very huge. We asked a guy who came here for hiking only the direction to the castle and started to walk. After we walked about 1 hour, we went out from the forest and arrived at the small town. When We were wondering the direction is right or not, we met a family who took a walk. Firstly I asked if there was any person who spoke English, one lady replied yes, so I told to her that we wanted to go to Fantainebleau castle. The family was very suprised and asked us that if we would go there on foot. They are also suprised at what we didn't have even a map and said that it was about 10km from here. That means it is impossible to go on foot without a map. |

 家族連れ4人、途中加わったサイクリング中のグループみんなが輪になってどうするか話しているとき、森の中から馬車が現れました。馬車も何事かと停まって話の輪に加わりました。すると英語を話す女性が「馬車でお城まで連れていってくれることになった。」と言ってきました。私たちは馬車は森の観光馬車だと思い、「いくら払えばいいですか？」と聞きました。それは個人の馬車で今から町を散策し、フォンテーヌまで帰るから乗せてもらえるということでした。セーヌ川沿いの美しい町を馬車で散策！願ってもないことでした。
When 4 people of a family and the cycling group that increased later were discussing what we should do, a carriage appeared from the forest. And people in the carriage wondered what happened and stopped to join the discussion. The lady who spoke English told us that this carrige would take us to the castle. We thought this carriage was the one for tourists and asked them how much we should pay. However that was a private one and they would stroll the town and go home later. They said after that, they would take us to the castle. Stroll the beautiful town along the Seine by carriage. it was a boon. |

 馬車での町の散策のあと、一度家に帰り車に乗り換えてお城まで行くことになりました。
After the stroll by the carriage, we went home once and they would take us to the castle by car. |

 家はセーヌ川沿いのとてもすてきなおうちでした。広い公園のような芝生。馬場と４頭の馬、母屋と離れの２軒。「とてもすてきですね」と言うと「ここはね週末を過ごす家なの。私たちはパリに住んでいるのよ」！！離れは管理人さんのお宅でした。
Thier house is a very wonderful one along the Seine.
They have a lawn like a large park and 4 horses, the main building and 2 cottages. I said "It's wonderful" and she said "This is our villa for weekend. We are living in Paris." The cottages are the houses for caretaker family. |

 車に乗り換え、フォンテーヌブローの街へ。お城へ向かう途中、「フレデリック・カッセル」に寄って「お城で食べなさい」とケーキを買ってくれました。
道に迷っていたらとても親切な人たちに会い、馬車で町を抜け、その町一番のケーキを買ってもらい・・・幸せな時間をいただきました。
フォンテーヌブローが本店の「フレデリック・カッセル」は日本でも買えます。

We went to Fontainebleau town by car.They dropped in "Frederic-cassel" on the way to castle and bought some cakes for us to eat at there.
When we lost the way, we met a lot of kind people, passed through the town by carriage, and made them buy the best cakes in the town...All made us very happy.
The head office of "Frederic-cassel" is in Fontainebleau, but you can buy cakes of this shop also in Japan. |
