 世界遺産「ジェロニモス修道院」
ブラッセルから3時間でリスボンに到着。まずは世界遺産「ジェロニモス修道院」へ。世界遺産「リスボンのジェロニモス修道院とベレンの塔」の構成資産のひとつです。
We arrived at Lisbon in three hours by Brussels. First of all, we went to "Jeronimos Monastery" of the world heritage. It is one of constitution assets of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, "Jeronimos Monastery and Tower of Belem in Lisbon". |

The courtyard. The construction of the monastery and church began by Manuel I in 1502 to praise pioneering of Indian route by Vasco da Gama and the great achievement of the Henrique voyage prince. Though the most part such as galleries were finished, after that, there was the interruption by the death of Manuel I and an alliance between Spain and Portuguese under one monarch. It took about 300 years for the final completion. |

聖母からのメッセージは大きく分けて３つありました。1.死後の地獄の実在 2.第一次世界大戦の終焉と第二次世界大戦の勃発。しかし第3の予言は聖母マリアから1960年になったら公開するように、それまでは秘密に、とルシアに厳命がありました。その内容は｢ファティマ第三の秘密」と呼ばれ、ルシアを通じて教皇庁に伝えられたが1960年が過ぎても教皇庁は公開せず、2000年になってから発表に踏み切りました。

It is called "the third secret of Fatima and it was told the Vatican through Lucia. However evern if 1960 passed, the Vatican didin't open to public and decided announcement after it was 2000. |

広場の収容人数は30万人以上とも言われていて、大祭の時には巡礼者が広場をうめつくすそうです。1917年10月13日、ここに集まった一万人の群衆は雨に濡れていたが、太陽が狂ったような急降下や回転を繰り返し猛烈な熱で彼らの服は乾いてしまったとのこと。世界各国の天文台で当時こうした太陽の異常行動は確認されておらず、群衆全員が同じ幻覚を見たことになります。ポルトガル国内では大々的に報道された事件です。

On 13 October 1917, the sun repeated crazy dives and rotations and extreme heat dried clothes of 10,000 people who gathered here in the rain. Observatories of all over the world didn't confirm such kind of abnormal activity of the sun in those days. It means that all the crowds watched the same hallucination. It was a case reported on a large scale in Portugal |

 広場中央のキリスト像の足元には泉が湧きだしています。ありがたく飲ませていただきました。これは水源のないところから水が湧き、飲む者に奇跡的な治癒があったりした水です。
教皇ヨハネ・パウロ2世は、第三の予言の内容を1981年5月13日の教皇暗殺未遂事件であったと規定しました。しかし、その内容は前の二つの預言と比べると矮小が過ぎる点、40年もの長期間隠匿され60年代の教皇が絶句したり発表を見送った内容とはとても思えない等の理由で疑問視する意見もあります。

Pope John Paul II implied that the third secret was about the 20th century persecution of Christians that culminated in the failed assassination attempt on him on 13 May 1981. However there is the opinion to doubt, too because the contents are too dwarfish compare with other two secrets or people hardly think with the contents which was hidden for long term of 40 years and the Popes of the 60s were at a loss for words and shelved announcement. |

 城壁に囲まれた人口800人ほどの小さな町です。国王ディニス王が王妃イザベルがスペインから嫁いできた時に、この町をプレゼントしたとか。この美しい町を気に行った王妃はオビドスを直轄地としたそうです。

２０世紀の初頭エッフェルの弟子のフランス人建築家によって造られました。高さ４５メートル。鉄塔の中をクラッシックなエレベーターが上り下りしています。往復で５ユーロ。これも一日券で乗れます。

It was made by a French architect who was a pupil of Eiffel in the beginning of the 20th century. It's 45 meters high. The elevator is moving up and down in the classical steel tower. A round-up fare is 5 euro. We could get on with one-day ticket. |

It was established in the 17th century. In the 20th century the church has been converted into the National Pantheon (Celebrity enshrining together), in which important Portuguese personalities are buried. Though we went there on foot in the rain, it was closed and we couldn't see the inside. In 1681, building of the current church began after previous structures collapsed. Building work proceeded from 1682 through 1712, when the architect died. King John V lost interest in the church. The church was left unfinished until the 20th century. Eventually a dome was added, whereupon the church was reinaugurated in 1966. |

The design which was painted by 2 colours of white and black is based on the legend that Sao Vicente who was a patron saint of Lisbon was protected and brought to Lisbon by two ravens in 173. 16世紀にヴァスコ・ダ・ガマの世界一周の偉業を記念してマヌエル1世によって作られた要塞です。テージョ川の船の出入りを監視する目的がありました。建設は1519年に終わりました。1580年、数時間の戦闘の後、塔の守備兵はアルバ公率いるスペイン軍に包囲されました。敗北の後、塔の地下牢は1830年まで牢獄として使われました。

It is a fortified tower which was built by King Manuel I of Portugal in the 16th century to commemorate around-the-world great achievement of Vasco da Gama. The tower was commissioned to be part of a defense system at the mouth of the Tagus river. The building was finished in 1519. In 1580, after a few hours of battle, the garrison stationed in the tower surrendered to Spanish forces under the command of the Duke of Alba. After this defeat, the dungeons of the tower served as a prison until 1830. |
