People of Bruges wanted a financial support for a new mental hospital. Emperor said "I met only fools today. Bruges is the big mental hospital". Since then, The people of Bruges are known as "Brugse Zotten" (Bruges Fools). The mayer of Bruges named this beer "Bruges Zot", which was made at the brewery which revived. |
