161年にアテネの貴族ヘドロ・アティクスが妻を偲んで建設しました。収容人数5000人の音楽会会場として267年にヘルール族に破壊され廃墟とされるまで、そのまま使われました。観客席と部隊は1950年代に大理石で修復され、それ以来毎年5月から10月まで開催されるアテネ・フェスティバルのメイン会場となっています。

It was built in 161 AD by the Athenian magnate Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife. It was used as a venue for music concerts with a capacity of 5,000. It lasted intact until it was destroyed and turned into a ruin by the Heruli in 267 AD. The audience stands and the orchestra (stage) were restored using marble in the 1950s. Since then it has been the main venue of the Athens Festival, which runs from May through October each year｡ |

It is an ancient Greek temple on the north side of the Acropolis which was dedicated to both Athena and Poseidon. The temple as seen today was built between 421 and 406 BCE. On the south side, the famous "Porch of the Maidens", with six draped female figures (caryatids) as supporting columns. In 1801 one of the caryatids was removed by Lord Elgin in order to decorate his Scottish mansion, and were later sold to the British Museum. In 1979, the five original Caryatids were moved to the Old Acropolis Museum and replaced by exact replicas. The Erechtheum went through a period of restoration from 1977 to 1988. |

Built around 420BC, it was named for its frieze of Nikai celebrating victory and sacrificing to their patroness, Athena Nike. Nike means victory in Greek, and Athena was worshipped in this form, as goddess of victory in war and wisdom. The temple sat untouched until it was demolished in 1686 by the Turks who used the stones to build defences. In 1834 the temple was reconstructed after the independence of Greece. In 1998 the temple was dismantled so that the crumbling concrete floor could be replaced and its frieze was removed and placed in the new Acropolis Museum that opened in 2009. |

It is any monumental gateway based on the original Propylaea that serves as the entrance to the Acropolis. Construction began in 437 BC. The Propylaea survived intact through the Greek, Roman and Byzantine periods. It was severely damaged by an explosion of a powder magazine in 1656. In the period before the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, the Propylaea was shrouded in scaffolding as restoration work was undertaken. At the end of 2009 all scaffolding was removed. |

The current parliament, a neoclassical three-floor structure completed in 1843, originally served as a palace for the Greek monarchs. After suffering fire damage in 1909, it entered a long period of renovation. The king and royal family moved to what was from 1897 until then the Crown Prince's Palace, from then on known as the "New Palace", while some royals continued to reside in the "Old Palace" until 1924, when a referendum abolished the monarchy. The building was then used for many different purposes — functioning as a makeshift hospital, a museum, et al. — until November 1929, when government decided that the building would permanently house Parliament. |

Construction of the monument began in 1929 and it was inaugurated on March 25, 1932. |
