行く前に「Kokuban」でランチ。味噌ラーメン12ユーロ(1600円)

 デザートは雪見だいふく。ファミリーパックの大きさ二つで6ユーロ。
The dessert was a soft round rice cake stuffed with ice cream. 6 Euros in 2 pieces, which was same size as the contents of the Japanese family pack box. |

 家から車で20分。ジャンバル湖畔にたつ「シャトー・ドゥ・ラック」に到着。1906年にミネラル・ウォーター社によって建てられました。城はミネラル・ウォーターを瓶詰する工場になる予定でした。
We arrived at "Chateau du Lac", nestled at the edge of Genval Lake, just 20 minutes from Brussels by car. It was built in 1906 by the Societe des Eaux Minerales (Mineral Water Company). This castle would become a mineral water bottling plant. |

 ホテル前の湖畔を散歩。湖が有名になったため、城はそのままリゾート施設としてのみ使われましたが、1934年にベルギー・シュウェップス社が城を借りて水とレモネードを作る工場に作り替えました。1952年にマーティン家が城を買い、ジョン･マーティンが施設を他に移す1981年までは工場として使われました。4年後にジャンバル湖畔に豪華ホテルを造ることが決められました。
We took a walk around the lake in front of the hotel. Even though the springs had been commercialised, the castle was run only as a health resort until Schweppes Belgium hired the building in 1934 to make it a production plant for water and lemonade. In 1952, the Martin family bought the castle and continued the industrial activities until 1981, when John Martin moved the production plant to another location. Four years later, the idea was put forward to create an exclusive luxury hotel on the shores of Genval Lake. |
