 16世紀初頭に首都として栄えた「メッヘレン」午後から半日遊びに行きした。1835年に首都ブリュッセルとの間にこの鉄道が開通しました。
We went to see Mechelen, which prospered as a capital in the beginning of the 16th century, from afternoon. The railway opened in 1835 between here and Brussels of a capitol. |

ここでビールとランチ！ベルギーで最初の近代的蒸気式醸造工程を取り入れた醸造所です。歴史は約 500 年以上まで遡ることができます。

 「べギン会教会」
世界遺産のべギン会院の一つ。とてもきれいな教会でした。

 世界遺産の「鐘楼」に上りました。途中、大迫力の鐘の音を真下で聞きました…空気が震えているのがわかります。ここには４９個の鐘からなる大きなカリヨンが２組あり、1480年鋳造のものが最古です。
We climbed "the belfry" of the world heritage. We heard a bell of the great force right below on the way. We found the air shaked. There are two sets of big carillons consisting of 49 bells here and ones which was casted in 1480 is the oldest. |

1452年の着工当初は、鐘楼は167ｍで計画されていましたが、1546年に建設は中止されました。翼廊にはヴァン・ダイクの『磔刑図』があります。

The belfry was planned of an altitude of 167m at the start of construction in 1452. However the construction was canceled in 1546. There is "Crucifixion" of Anthony van Dyck on a transept. |

 「グローテ・マルクト」に建つ「市庁舎」
14世紀に、グローテ・マルクトの東に、繊維取引所として建てられました。また、同時期に建築された鐘楼はブルージュの鐘楼をモデルにしていましたが、工事が中止され未完成のままに。
"City Hall" is located on "Grote Markt".
It was built as a fiber exchange on the east side of Grote Markt in the 14th century. The belfry which was built for the same period made the belfry of Brugge a model. However construction was canceled and was kept on being unfinished. |

 「マルガレータ宮」
カール5世の叔母さんであるマルガリータの宮殿とのこと。ハプスブルグ家の王妃「オーストリアのマルガレータ」は、1507年から23年間メッヘレンをネーデルランド（往時のオランダとベルギー）の首都に選び、ここに宮殿を構えました。

It's the palace of Margaret who was an aunt of Charles V. Margaret of Austria, queen of the House of Hapsburg. chose Mechelen as the capital of Netherlands (Netherlands and Belgium at the time) for 23 years from 1507 and set up the palace. |

 帰りは運河の遊歩道を歩いて駅まで。お土産のビールも買ったし、そろそろ帰ります。教会にはルーベンスやヴァン・ダイクの絵もあって、ゆっくり見ることができました。小さな街の散策は思いがけない発見があります。いい一日でした。
The way back to our station was a promenade of the canals. We bought beers for souveniors and it was time to go home. We could see paintings of Rubens and Anthony van Dyck in the church relaxedly. We could discover unexpected things by the walk of the small town. It was a good day. |
