 「ヴォー・ル・ヴィコント城」に行ってきました。建物と庭は1979年の007映画「ムーンレイカー」でマイケル・ロンズデール演ずる悪役ヒューゴ・ドラックスのカリフォルニアの家として使われました。また1998年のレオナルド・ディカプリオ主演「仮面の男」の背景にも使われました。
We visited "the Vaux-le-Vicomte". The house and its grounds were used as the Californian home of the main villain Hugo Drax (played by Michael Lonsdale) in the 1979 James Bond film Moonraker. It can also be seen in the background in the 1998 film The Man in the Iron Mask that Leonard DiCaprio starred. |

 たぶん普段は「○○の間」ということなんだと思うけど、今はクリスマスの飾りがいっぱい。1875年、30年間の放置の後、オークションで城はAlfred Sommierに売られました。城は無人でいくつかの外壁は崩れ落ちており有名な庭は草ボウボウの状態でした。
I guess it's usually "The hall of <something>", however there are a full of Christmas decorations now. In 1875, after thirty years of neglect, the estate was sold to Alfred Sommier in a public auction. The chateau was empty, some of the outbuildings had fallen into ruin and the famous gardens were totally overgrown. |

 フーケを投獄した後、ルイ14世はヴォー・ル・ヴィコント城をモデルに、同じ建築家、芸術家を雇ってヴェルサイユ宮殿を建設しました。
After Fouquet was imprisoned, Louis XIV employed same architects and artists and built the palace and gardens of Versailles with Vaux-le-Vicomte as a model.

 確かにどの部屋もとても豪華です。各部屋のクリスマスの飾りもすごい。1908年にSommierが死んだ時、城と庭園は往年の姿を取り戻していました。彼の息子、Edme Sommierとその妻が修復を完成させました。
Actually every rooms are very gorgeous. Cristmas decorations of each room is splendid as well. When Sommier died in 1908, the chateau and the gardens had recovered their original appearance. His son, Edme Sommier, and his daughter-in-law completed the task. |

 ここが豪華なので、ベルサイユ宮殿も豪華になったわけで…。もし、この城がなかったら、もし、フーケがもう少し地味な城にしていたら、今のベルサイユ宮殿はなかったのかなあ。
The palace of Versailles became gorgeous because the chateau had been gorgeous. If the chateau didn't exsist or Fouquet created a little quiter castle, the current Versailles palace may not exist now. |

 各部屋、飾りが違っていて本来のお城の姿ではないけれど、かなりの見応え。
Each room has a different decoration. Therefore the chateau is worth seeing even though it's not original form of the chateau. |

There is a pond where a chateau comes out on the surface on the way. We saw an illustration to explain how to cariculate and create. It indicated whree we could see the chateau on the surface. |

 帰り道。フランス方面からベルギーに向かう高速は空港滑走路の下を走っています。時々大きな飛行機がタキシングして、目の前を通過します。突然目の前に飛行機が現れるのでびっくり−！
On the way home. The highway which heads for Belgium from France district runs under the runway of the airport. A big airplane sometimes passes in front while it is taxing. We suprise at the airplane which appears in front suddenly. |
