 駅前の橋を渡ると「ハンプトンコート」。テムズ川の上流にあたるそうです。ヘンリー8世は、英国周辺にハンプトン・コートと同じスタイルの宮殿を49造ったらしいですが、すべて現存していません。
When we cross the bridge in front of the station, we can get "Hampton Court". It's the upper stream of the Thames. It is said that though Henry VIII made the 49 palaces of the style same as Hampton Court around England, none of them exists anymore. |

この場所ではないですが、ハンプトンコートは幽霊が出ることで有名です。ヘンリー8世の王妃ジェーン・シーモアは1537年にハンプトン・コートでのちのエドワード6世を出産しましたが、12日後に死去しました。彼女の幽霊は、いまだ宮殿の階段に頻繁に現れるといわれています。

 「ハンプトン・コート」往復のチケットとチューブ用のＩＣ付カード「オイスターカード」。チューブは１ゾーン４ポンドちょっと。６００円ぐらいします。オイスターカードだと２ポンド。デポジットの５ポンドを払ってももとは取れます。しかも、オイスターだと１日券の金額を超えて引かれることはないのです！「一日券買ってもととれるかなー」と悩むこともいらないし、チケット買うのに並ぶ必要もなし。
A return ticket of "Hampton Court" and a "Oyster card" with IC for Tube. A fare of Tube is about 4 pound for 1 zone. It's about 600yen. A fare is 2 pound if we use Oyster card. We can get our money's worth even if we pay 5 pound of deposit. In addition, we don't pay more than a fare of one day ticket. We don't need to worry about whether we should buy one day ticket or not and form a line to buy a ticket. |

 ハンプトンコートからロンドンへ。途中見えるパターシー発電所。ここはピンク・フロイドのアルバム「アニマルズ」のLPジャケットに使われて有名なところ。現在は発電所としては使われておらず、エンタテイメント施設として生まれ変わろうとしています。煙突も80年代まさに「アニマルズ」の頃の煙突に作り替えられるそうです。
From Hampton Court to London. It's Battersea Power Station which we can see on the way. It is very famous because it is used for an LP jacket of "Animals" of Pink Floyd album. Now it isn't used for a power plant and is going to be rebeared as entertainment facilities. It is said that the chimney will be also converted into the one in the days of "animals" in the 80s exactly. |

 帰りも１等。帰りはお夕飯が出ました。ワインもビールも好きなだけ。これ、１０ユーロしか違わなかったら絶対１等がお得だと思います。早めに取ったら…ですが。
We used the first class to get home. A dinner served in the train of the return. We could drink wine and beer in this train as much as we liked. If prices are different only as for 10 euros, I think that the first class is good-value absolutely. It is a condition to make a reservation early. |
