 週末エジンバラに行ってきました。1時間20分のフライトで到着。時差があるので20分で着いた感じ。まずは「ホリルードハウス宮殿」。スコットランドにおける英国王室の公式居城です。エリザベス女王は毎年、夏の初めの1週間をここで過ごされます。
We visited Edinburgh last weekend. We arrived by a one-hour and 20 minutes flight. We felt that we could arrive by 20 minutes flight because there is a time difference between Scotland and Belgium. First od all, it's " Palace of Holyroodhouse". It is the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland. Queen Elizabeth spends one week in residence at Holyrood Palace at the beginning of each summer. |

みんなが幸運を呼ぶためボビーの鼻をさわっているので、触ってみました。近年、フリーツアーを提供する会社がそうすることを奨励するため、エジンバラの伝統だと誤って伝えられています。この行為は像の鼻を薄くしすり減らしています。この行為はこの歴史的遺産の外見を脅かす愚かな破壊行為だと言われています。ごめんなさい。
"Greyfriars Bobby's Bar"
Everyone rubbed Bobby's nose for luck, therefore Masaki also rubbed it. In recent years a tour company which offers free tours has encouraged thousands of tourists to do it, erroneously claiming it to be an old Edinburgh tradition. This has led to the statue's nose becoming shiny and worn. It is said this practice is an act of unwitting vandalism which threatens the fabric of this historic monument. Sorry. |

 「グレイフライアーズ・ボビーズ・バー」のすぐ裏にある「グレイフライアーズ教会」にボビーと飼い主さんは眠っています。グレイフライアー教会はエジナバラ旧市街の外にある生き残った現役の建物としては最古の物の一つで、1602年に建設は始まり、1620年頃に完成しました。
Greyfriars Bobby and his owner, John Gray, rest in the graves at "Greyfriars Kirk" in the back of "Greyfriars Bobby's Bar". "Greyfriars Kirk" is one of the oldest surviving buildings built outside the Old Town of Edinburgh, having been begun in 1602 and completed circa 1620. |

 「グレイフライアーズ教会」のボビーのお墓。近くに飼い主さんのお墓も。赤い御影石がスコットランド愛犬教会によってグレイフライアーズ・ボビーの墓の上に建てられ、1981年5月13日に公開されました。

 「聖メアリー大聖堂」
ホテルから見える大聖堂に行ってみました。建設は1876年5月26日に始まりました。教会のナーヴは1879年1月25日に公開され、その日から教会での礼拝は始まりました。西側の2つの尖塔の建設は1913年に始まり、1917年に完成しました。
