 ベルギーの美しい村に行く前にドイツ・ライン川の右岸にある132mの高さの切り立った粘板岩である「ローレライ」へ。なぜだかとても有名です。前に見たときはライン川下りの船の中からでした。今日はライン川の対岸から。
We visited "The Lorelei" which is a 132m high, steep slate rock on the right bank of the River Rhine before going to beautiful villages in Belgium. I don't know why it's so popular. We have seen it from the cruise ship of the Rhine before. We saw it from the opposite bank today. |

 町の中心はやっぱり教会。一番立派な建物です。17世紀に建てられた聖Jacques-le-Majeur教会です。
After all there is a church in the center of the town. It is the most excellent building. It's St-Jacques-le-Majeur church built in the 17th century.

 村役場を横から見ると、道路の上に建っていてその下を車が走っています。ちょっと面白い。
When we see the town hall from the side, we know the town hall stands on the road and cars run under it. It's interesting. |

 今日二つ目の村「ソワロン」。1723年に建てられた聖Roch教会近くに車を停めて町歩きへ。

 ソワロン城がありました。ここは個人所有なので入れませんでした。Woelmont家が1647年に城を購入しそれ以来この家族の所有物です。旧城は1692年の地震で破壊されましたが1749年に再建、完成しました。
It's Soiron castle. We couldn't enter because it was a private property. The family Woelmont buys the castle in 1647 and this family still owns the castle to date. The old castle was destroyed by the earthquake in 1692. A new castle was build and was finished in 1749. |

 今日のスープとチーズトーストをいただきました。
お店の人に日本人だというと「遠くからよく来てくれたー」と感激されたので、ブリュッセルに住んでいるとはいえなくなってしまいました。
We had a today's soup and a cheese toast. The cafe people knew that we were Japanese and were moved with our having come from far away. Therefore we couldn't say we lived in Brussels. |

 こちらも石造りの家が並んでいます。建て替えるときも造りは変えないのだとか。村に対する住民の思いが伝わってきます。
Stone-houses make a line along the street also here. When residents rebuild a house, they build the house of the same structure. I felt the love of the resident for the village. |
